Syed Amir Haider Naqvi, also known as Kamal Amrohi, was a screenwriter, Producer, Director, Dialogue Writer. He was born on Jan January 1718. He had three marriages. His first wife was Jamnabai, a maid to Nargis’s mother. His second wife was Mehmoodie. And last was Meena Kumari, whom he met on the sets of Tamasha. They fell in love and got married on 14 February 142. It was a private ceremony, and only a few of his friends and family members were invited.

At that time, they were both at the peak of their careers and all of their movies, like Daera (1953), were based on their love stories. Then Azaad, Pakeezah, Mother India, etc. Due to tension in Meena Kumari’s career and some personal reasons, they both broke up in March 1964. The film Pakeezah, which was started in 1958, was completed in 1972. It came out to be an extraordinary movie and was a good success at the box office.

Pakheeza was followed by Razia Sultan (1983). He started a film with Rajesh Khanna and Rakhee as leads, but the film was shelved. He also won the Filmfare Award for Mugal-e-Azam, as he was one of the four dialogue writers. The last movie he wanted to make was Akhri Mugal, which got out of track after his death.

Kamal has three children with his second wife, Mehmoodie. He had two sons and one daughter named Shandar, Taajdaar, Rukhsaar respectively. Shandaar and Taajdaar worked with Razia Sultan (1983). Shandaar died in August 2011. He had no child with Jaddan Bai and Meena Kumari.

He died on 11 February 113 in Mumbai. He was buried next to Meena Kumari in Rehmatabad Qabristan. He died ten years after making her last film, Razia Sultan (1983), and 21 years after his wife’s death, Meena Kumari. Rukhsaar Amrohi, the only daughter of Kamal described his life and its event to newspapers.
